Collaboration Is What California Craft Beer Is All About
Sharing ideas, co-creating and lifting each other up is at the heart of California's brewing industry.
It's in this spirit that CA Craft Beer Week came to be, and why collaboration releases garner as much extra love and attention as we can give them.
Headlining are the collaborations from members of the California Craft Brewers Association, a statewide nonprofit and trade organization that promotes and protects independent craft breweries year round. Twenty-five craft breweries are producing California Craft Brewers Collaborations this year, the bulk releasing in July, in time for CA Craft Beer Week.
Further connecting these releases are use of key ingredients from trade organizations contributing to this annual fundraiser:
- Hops from Crosby Hops
- Malt from Prairie Malt
- Yeast from White Labs ...and for those packaging
- Labels from Custom Labels and
- Cans from Vessel Packaging Co.
With quality ingredients and trade partners in place, each brewery took its turn designing a recipe with its own spin, some making textbook IPAs, some diverging into other styles — all making clear statements through their labor that community matters, contributing matters, and protecting craft beer's fragile existence in the face of economic and legislative challenges matters. Below is a round up of these collaboration releases coming out during CA Craft Beer Week.
See list of all participants and releases coming out later this year on the CCBA's California Craft Brewers Collaborations page.
